Compact Metamaterial-Based Tunable Zeroth-Order Resonant Antenna with Chip Variable Capacitor
This letter presents a compact metamaterial-based tunable zeroth-order resonant antenna. It is based on the double-negative unit cell with a function of tunable inductance realized by a varactor and impedance convertor in the shunt branch. The resonant frequency of the designed antenna ranges from 2.31 to 3.08 GHz, depending on the capacitance of the used varactor. Its size is very compact (0.0...
متن کاملCapacitor-loaded split ring resonators as tunable metamaterial components
Transmission through split ring resonator SRR structures loaded with capacitors is investigated both experimentally and numerically. Magnetic resonance frequency m is observed to shift to lower frequencies when capacitors are mounted to the various capacitive regions of the SRR structure. The amount of change in m depends strongly on the place where the capacitors are loaded. The magnetic reson...
متن کاملCompact UWB-MIMO antenna with metamaterial FSS decoupling structure
In this paper, an UWB-MIMO antenna with frequency selective surface (FSS) decoupling structure is proposed. To realize antenna system miniaturization and integration, silicon material is applied as substrate. The proposed antenna becomes a very compact construction with dimension of 38.2 × 26.6 × 0.4 mm. The proposed broadband FSS unit consists of four split rectangles and one I-shaped strip. T...
متن کاملZeroth Order Resonator Antenna (ZORA) using CRLH Transmission Lines
A compact Zeroth Order Resonator Antenna (ZORA) is implemented as a part of course work for Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits and Systems (E8-242). This work is based on [1] . Due to the unique properties of Compact Right/Left Handed (CRLH) transmission lines, the size of the antenna is independent of the frequency of operation. This compact structure is made of two unit cells each comprising...
متن کاملMetamaterial Based Multiple Frequency Antenna
Antennas that are electrically small, efficient and have significant bandwidth would fill many needs of new generation communications systems if antenna engineers could reconcile these usually contradictory requirements. The introduction of the so-called metamaterials (MTMs), artificial materials which have engineered electromagnetic responses that are not readily available in nature, has provi...
